Survival Shelter Construction Workshop

In this class, Registered Maine Guides will share how to construct a shelter using natural material in your surroundings, using techniques to make a weather tight shelter. Being able to construct a shelter that protects from the elements for a prolonged period is critical in a survival situation. Various types of shelters will be discussed, and we will be able to take a closer look at shelters built in our nature immersion program. Participants will then be able to work on constructing their own shelters.

This class is ideal for families (children of all ages welcome!) and adults. The entire class will be held outdoors, and we will be walking through the woods for about 1/4 mile. Please be sure to dress for warmth and with appropriate footwear. Outhouse style bathrooms are available.
