About Our Summer Program

Through The Trees Summer Nature Immersion Program takes place on our Freeport, Maine property - over 50 beautiful wooded acres with trails, gardens, a pond, field and the beautiful Frost Gully Brook. Kids and teens spend their time outdoors exploring, learning nature skills, making new friends and having wholesome, unplugged fun! 

Our dedicated staff include Registered Maine Guides (RMG), RMG-in-training, and Teen Mentors who have been participants in our program. Each Guide is trained in (and continues to learn and practice) various wilderness skills, nature literacy and mindfulness tools as well as First Aid/CPR. Our team is passionate about being outside in nature and sharing this passion with children and teens in a way that supports responsible risk-taking and self-directed learning and exploration in the natural world.

Participants are outdoors for the duration of their time with us, in all types of weather (unless weather is extreme and unsafe). This helps build resilience, confidence, problem-solving skills and a closer connection to to the natural world. Our bathroom facilities are outdoor wooden structures with human composting toilets.

PAYMENT OPTIONS:

Summer programs can be paid in full at the time of registration or in payments ($100 at registration + payment on March 15 + payment on May 15). A non-refundable $100 deposit is due at the time of registration (this is part of the total price). Our system also charges a 4.5% credit card and processing fee on the total purchase amount. If you are in need of an alternative payment option, please email transform@throughthetrees.org and we will do our best to accommodate.

FAMILY DISCOUNT:

If registering more than one family member in a program this summer, enter coupon code FAMILY10 at checkout to receive 10% off.

SCHOLARSHIPS:

As of March 2024, all scholarships funds for the summer program have been distributed. If your family needs financial support in order to participate, you may consider external scholarship programs such as those offered by Freeport Community Services.

Participant Cancellation Policy:

If you need to cancel your child's enrollment, a full refund, minus the $100 non-refundable deposit and the 4.5% processing fee paid at registration, will be provided if cancelled before May 15. Refunds will not be provided for cancellations after May 15. Changes in camps/schedules may be made based on space availability but aren't guaranteed.

Weather & TTT Cancellation Policy:

Summer program will be held rain or shine, unless there is extreme inclement weather, such as extreme high heat index, high winds or thunderstorms. We make every effort to hold program, however safety is our top priority. Due to the nature and schedule of our summer program, make up days will only be provided if two days are missed in one week - then a make up day on that Friday will be offered. Refunds are not provided for days cancelled due to weather.

TIPS FOR REGISTERING:

• If you are seeking a scholarship, please complete an application before adding sessions to your cart on the registration page. You will only be able to complete one cart at a time.

• Coupon codes will be applied on the page titled "Review Cart & Check Out"

• The default view is the "Session List" which shows a full list of offerings this summer in date-order. You can change the view to "Calendar" by clicking on that tab at the top.

• Use the "Filter By" options on the left side bar to see what's available for each age group. 

• Add Items to Cart, click "Continue," complete required forms, then "Continue to Cart"

• Coupon codes will be applied on the page titled "Review Cart & Check Out"

• Although viewable on a phone, we find it's easier to see all the features on a computer screen.
